Valentine’s Day in 4th Grade- Students are making a Valentine at school for each classmate, and teachers are providing a small, paper Valentine bag. Our wonderful PTF is providing students with a cookie to decorate and pizza lunch on February 10th when we will celebrate Valentine’s Day in the classroom. We ask that if your child wants to purchase Valentines in addition to what we are making to please make sure they include all classmates.


Wax Museum- Due to COVID, you will receive an update next week about the Wax Museum.


What Are We Learning?


Reading: Understand the different kinds of conflict that a character encounters
Language Arts: Write final draft of biography summary to prepare for Wax Museum
Math: Find the area of rectangles and rectilinear figures using multi-digit computation
History: Identify the first pioneers including Daniel Boone, and the affect the pioneers had on the Native Americans.
Spelling: Accurately spell and write words that are contractions
Bible: Christ called common, ordinary people as His disciples.

Reading: Events in a story can help to shape a character.
Language Arts: Helping Verbs and writing a summary about the biography
Math: Convert metric units of measurement
History: Define the Northwest Ordinance and the Louisiana Purchase
Spelling: Accurately spell and write compound words
Bible: Christ’s most important teaching was that we must be born again!

Reading: Reading fluency affects our comprehension
Language Arts: Present tense linking verbs
Math: Multiply a two-digit number by a three-digit number
History: How the Revolutionary War ended and what the colonists gained by winning the war
Spelling: Accurately spell and write words with /u/, /ū/, and /ō/
Bible: Christ’s most important teaching was that we must be born again!

Information about Math Olympics: The qualifier assessment for this year's Math Olympics was given in class. The top 3 students for computation and the top 3 for reasoning in the GRADE LEVEL will move on to represent NCCS at this year's competition which will take place on our own campus in March.

What Are We Learning?

Reading: Reading Level Assessments
Language Arts: Subject/Verb Agreement with verb tenses
Math: Multiply a two-digit factor by a two-digit factor
History: Identify why some African Americans and Native Americans joined the war.
Spelling: Accurately spell and write words with diphthongs and the oo vowel digraph.
Bible: Listening with an attitude of learning will result in the gaining of godly wisdom, which will bring forth fruit in our lives.
